GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T State University is a critical component of the economy in Greensboro and the Piedmont Triad. So for A&T to get better, it will take more support for the things that made it that critical component.
“We as a university are a critical, integral part and partners with business leaders in this community, this region and beyond,” A&T Chancellor Harold Martin says in the accompanying video.
“And for us to continue to enhance the role we play in the growing focus around economic development of our region, enhancing our ability to produce more graduates that are a critical need to the industries and communities in our region, we need more investments.”
Martin catalogs those investments:
• Educational and research space;
• Faculty with the skills to advance the institution; and
• Academic programs to meet the growing needs of the region.
“Strategic investments,” he pronounces.
“I’ve been very clear with shaping those expectations in conversations with (UNC System) President (Margaret) Spellings and members of the Board of Governors, as well as with our legislators, both out of our region as well as leaders of the legislature here in North Carolina,” he says.
