WINSTON-SALEM (October 29, 2025) – They’re called community colleges for a reason – because they meet the needs of the communities they serve in oh-so-many ways.
“Sometimes people do not understand the magnitude of all of the programs and all of the things we do at Forsyth Tech,” Dr. Janet Spriggs, President of Forsyth Technical Community College, says in the accompanying video.
“You know about the programs that lead to transfer degrees at the university. They can start here, get two years (and) an associate’s degree, same thing they would get at the university – they transfer, and in two more years, they have a bachelor’s degree.”
Spriggs outlines career and technical options as well – aviation mechanics, graphics designers, information technology and auto mechanics.
“All those things and pretty much any career that is located in this region – because that’s what we’re supporting – you can find that here that will get you that degree or those credentials that you need,” she says.
She also outlines short-term programs: “If you just want to know one component of how to work on your car, you can come and take a short-term class to learn a specific piece of that degree,” she says.
BUT THE OFFERINGS also include fun.
“We also offer pickleball – that’s my favorite one! We started pickleball a few years ago, and I think it’s our fastest-growing class. We always have a wait list,” Spriggs says.
“So pretty much anything you want to do, no matter your age or what you’re looking to accomplish, you can find a path to accomplish it here at Forsyth Tech.”
